1. Work Culture & Philosophy
We operate with a gamified military-style learning approach where punctuality and discipline are paramount. As a lean startup, we maintain structured schedules to maximize productivity and learning outcomes. Every minute counts in our fast-paced environment.
2. Attendance & Scheduling
2.1 Punctuality Standards
- 2.1.1 Punctuality is non-negotiable. Being even one minute late is considered a violation of our standards.
- 2.1.2 Slot changes require at least 2 hours advance notice with a valid reason.
- 2.1.3 Maximum of 3 slot changes permitted per week.
2.2 Work Schedule
- 2.2.1 Take 1.5 days off during weekdays to maintain work-life balance.
- 2.2.2 Weekend availability is expected for maximum productivity.
- 2.2.3 One weekend off per month is permitted with team coordination to avoid conflicts.
2.3 External Events
- 2.3.1 Attendance at external events (hackathons, conferences, etc.) is limited to once every 3 months.
- 2.3.2 Provide 4 days advance notice for any external event participation.
3. Daily Work Practices
3.1 Task Management
- 3.1.1 Create Trello tasks at the start of each work session with:
- 3.1.1.1 Clear title and description
- 3.1.1.2 Assigned team members
- 3.1.2 Update tasks upon completion with:
- 3.1.2.1 CH (Contributed Hours)
- 3.1.2.2 One-line summary of accomplishments
3.2 Break Protocol
- 3.2.1 Use “BRB” to indicate quick breaks
- 3.2.2 Specify duration: BRB5 (5 minutes), BRB15 (15 minutes), etc.
3.3 End-of-Day Requirements
Before logging off, complete the following:
- 3.3.1 Update Trello tasks with CH (Contributed Hours)
- 3.3.2 Post effort logs in Slack using @KBot

4. Weekly Requirements
4.1 Sunday Night (10:00 PM)
- 4.1.1 Submit your “Weekly Availability Schedule” for the upcoming week.
4.2 Saturday Deliverables
- 4.2.1 Complete 7 Substack articles per week
- 4.2.2 All articles must be published under articlevil.substack.com
- 4.2.3 If incomplete by Saturday, your manager will schedule a session to complete them together
4.3 Saturday Night Gaming (11:00 PM - 1:00 AM)
- 4.3.1 Non-tech gaming session with winner selection
- 4.3.2 Eligibility requirements:
- 4.3.2.1 Minimum 3 working days in the week
- 4.3.2.2 Minimum 20 contributed hours for the week
5. Performance Tracking
- 5.1 All effort logs are tracked via @KBot to maintain accurate records of contributions and progress.
- 5.2 This data helps us recognize top performers and identify areas for improvement.
